چکیده

Introduction: Various mechanisms have recently been proposed to impact on the BOLD-contrast in steady-state sequences [1]. It has been speculated that magnetization transfer effects and/or relaxation during RF pulses, which are applied during a significant percentage of the imaging time, contribute to the detected signal changes. However, the investigation of various potential mechanisms has been hampered by the interaction of multiple effects. In this paper, we propose a novel acquisition and post processing approach, which allows adjusting pulse parameters independently in order to be able to systematically study various mechanisms, which potentially contribute to fMRI signal changes, such as relaxation during the pulse and magnetization transfer effects.

Balanced SSFP & Modifications for Unique Contrast

The term “steady state” refers to the equilibrium condition that evolves when magnetization experiences a train of radiofrequency (RF) pulses. If RF pulses are applied on the order of seconds (TR≈T1), the magnetization decays away completely in the transverse plane between RF pulses, but may not recover fully along the longitudinal axis. In the resulting steady state, the magnetization tipped a...

Steady-state sequences: Spoiled and balanced methods

In the context of MRI pulse sequences, the term “steady state” typically refers to the equilibrium condition that evolves when magnetization experiences a train of radiofrequency (RF) pulses. If RF pulses occur at broadly spaced intervals (TR≫T1), the magnetization recovers fully between pulses due to relaxation, and the steady-state is identical to the fully-relaxed magnetization, M0. In gener...

A Pictorial Description of Steady-States in Rapid Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Magnetic resonance imaging in biochemical and clinical research requires rapid imaging sequences. Time-resolved imaging of heart movement and the acquisition of a three-dimensional image block within the circulation time of a contrast agent bolus are two typical examples. Rapid imaging sequences are characterized by a very fast train of radiofrequency (rf) and gradient pulses. Between these rf ...

Integration of magnetization preparation sequences into SSFP sequences: A fat saturation example

Introduction: Steady state MRI-sequences are widely used for clinical applications. In particular, balanced steady-state free precession (b-SSFP) has become increasingly important for diagnostic and interventional imaging [1]. However, contrast modification by using magnetization preparation sequences, (like fat suppression or regional signal suppression), requires the use of transient steady s...

The Effects of Banking Facilities on Economic Growth (Steady-State approach)

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of banking facilities on economic growth with a steady-state approach. The econometric analysis of the paper is based on The Generalized method of Movements (GMM), using data for the period 1991-2017 collected from different data basis. The results show that banking facilities have a positive and significant impact on the economic sectors. ...
